Winston-Salem Dash News Release
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (SEPTEMBER 8, 2012) - The Winston-Salem Dash have clinched a spot in the Mills Cup Championship Series, and BB&T Ballpark will be the site for the first two games of this best-of-five series to determine the 2012 Carolina League champion.
The Dash will square off with the Lynchburg Hillcats tonight at 7:00 for Game 1 before closing their home schedule with Game 2 Sunday afternoon at 2:00. Fans can purchase their tickets now by visiting wsdash.com or heading to the Dash's box office, which is open from noon until the end of the game tomorrow and Sunday.
Winston-Salem defeated the Myrtle Beach Pelicans two games to one in the Southern Division Championship Series to advance to the title set. Winston has won a record 11 Mills Cups, but the franchise is aiming for its first since becoming the Dash prior to the 2009 season.
The Dash and Hillcats split their 20-game regular season series, with Winston-Salem owning the 6-4 edge at BB&T Ballpark. Lynchburg squeaked past Wilmington in a winner-take-all game 2-1 Friday night in the Northern Division Championship Series to earn the right to face the Dash.
After Game 1 and Game 2 in Winston-Salem, the series shifts to Lynchburg for the final three possible games. The Dash and Hillcats will play Tuesday through Thursday, with all three games scheduled for a 6:05 p.m. first pitch.
The Winston-Salem Dash are the Class-A Advanced minor league affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. To purchase tickets and for more information, please call 336-714-2287 or visit www.wsdash.com .
