Fighting Saints Release Promotional Schedule

August 29, 2012 - United States Hockey League (USHL) Dubuque Fighting Saints

DUBUQUE, Iowa - With the puck set to drop on preseason action in just over a week, the Dubuque Fighting Saints have announced their promotional schedule for the upcoming season, providing fans excitement both on and off the ice. The Fighting Saints will continue to invite fans to "Party at Our House," and will feature a themed promotion at every home game, providing a unique experience during all 34 preseason and regular season contests during the 2012-13 campaign.

The Fighting Saints will offer fans a number of nights with a giveaway item, and perhaps the most appropriate for Dubuquers comes on Friday, March 29 versus Indiana as part of "Good Fly Day." Known well by citizens of Dubuque, invasions of fish flies plague the city on occasion. To help combat the swarm, the first 1,000 fans in attendance that evening will receive a Fighting Saints Fish Fly Swatter.

Other giveaway items of note include a Fighting Saints magnet schedule to the first 3,500 fans in attendance at the regular season home opener, presented by American Trust, on Friday, September 28 versus the Tri-City Storm. The first 1,000 fans on Saturday, January 5 versus Green Bay will receive Fighting Saints Maracas, presented by One Stop Tax Service. On Saturday, March 9, the Fighting Saints host the Waterloo Black Hawks and the first 1,000 fans receive a Fighting Saints drawstring backpack as part of "High School Rivalry Night."

Dubuque will wear special jerseys on at least two occasions during the 2012-13 season. The Fighting Saints will host the third annual "Pink the Rink," presented by Finley Hospital on Saturday, October 27 versus Cedar Rapids. The game will help promote breast cancer awareness, and the Fighting Saints will wear pink jerseys that will be auctioned off following the game. In establishing a new tradition, "Military Appreciation Night," will be held the night before Thanksgiving, on Wednesday, November 21 versus Muskegon. The night is presented by Radio Dubuque, and the Fighting Saints will honor veterans and those serving our country on this special evening. The team will wear military themed-jerseys that will be auctioned off following the game.

December sees the Fighting Saints at home five times, and the month will provide fans with some favorite returning promotions, and a few new ones as well. "Santa Claus and the Fighting Saints Teddy Bear Toss," presented by Queen B Radio, will help ring in the holiday season on Friday, December 14 versus Team USA-18. The following night, December 15, the Fighting Saints will host "THE LAST SAINTS GAME EVER," ahead of the Mayan calendar prediction. Right after Christmas, fans will have a chance to once again bring in unwanted gifts as the Fighting Saints facilitate a Christmas Gift Exchange on Friday, December 28 versus Muskegon.

Other popular promotions returning for the 2012-13 season include, "Girls Night Out," an evening geared toward women, on Saturday, November 10 versus Muskegon. The Fighting Saints will again participate in "Hockey Weekend Across America," during its Friday, February 15 game versus Green Bay, in coordination with the national event.

Classic movies will be the subject of several theme nights during the 2012-13 season. On Friday, December 1 versus Cedar Rapids, the Fighting Saints will celebrate the 20th anniversary of The Mighty Ducks. On Friday, January 18th versus Chicago, the Fighting Saints will host "Groundhog Game. Groundhog Game." where, like the movie Groundhog Day, things will be repeated throughout the night. The Fighting Saints will also honor the 35th anniversary of the ever-popular Animal House on Friday, March 8 versus Sioux City.

The regular season closes with "Fan Appreciation Night," presented by American Trust, on Friday, April 5 versus Waterloo.
