
All-Star Third Baseman Pablo Sandoval to Join San Jose Giants

SAN JOSE, CA - The San Francisco Giants have announced third baseman Pablo Sandoval is scheduled to begin a rehabilitation assignment with the San Jose Giants on Friday, August 10 at Municipal Stadium. Sandoval, 24, is recovering from a strained left hamstring and was placed on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to July 25.
Sandoval is hitting .299 (70-for-234) with eight home runs and 33 RBI in 62 games with San Francisco this season. The Giants' third baseman is in his fifth season with the San Francisco Giants.
The two-time All-Star made his MLB debut on August 14, 2008 with the Giants. In his five-year career, Sandoval is hitting .306 with 72 home runs and 280 RBI. Sandoval played in San Jose during the 2007 and 2008 seasons and was a member of the 2008 California League All-Star Team.
