Williamsport Crosscutters News Release
The Connecticut Tigers completed the sweep of the Cutters Monday night with a 7-1 win at Bowman Field.
Roman Quinn was back in the lineup after two off days and was an offensive highlight for the Cutters, going 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI-triple.
Cutters starter Manaure Martinez was effective early, but fell apart in the third inning. Martinez first allowed Danry Vasquez to give Connecticut the lead on a line-drive single to right. Patrick Smith then followed with an RBI-grounder into right field.
Vasquez finished the day with four hits and two RBI.
The Tigers upped the lead to five with three runs scored in the fourth. With two on and nobody out, Luis Cortez laced a ball down the left field line to clear the bases with a double. Vasquez then followed with his second RBI, a line-drive single to left-center.
That lead expanded to 6-0, before Williamsport answered in the fifth. Quinn hit his league-leading ninth triple to right field to score Chace Numata.
Connecticut added one more run in the sixth to beat the Cutters 7-1. Williamsport drops to 15-33 and finishes 2-4 on the home stand after starting 2-0.
Williamsport hits the road for a two-game set with Mahoning Valley Tuesday at 7:05. Every Cutters game can be heard on ESPN Radio 104.1 FM, ESPN 1050 AM, or online at crosscutters.com.
