DANVILLE, Va. - The Danville Braves completed their second straight series-sweep of the Pulaski Mariners 8-3 Tuesday night at American Legion Post 325 Field. With the win, the D-Braves are now 6-0 against the M's this season and have not lost to them since July 24 of last year.

The D-Braves played a little small ball and were thick as thieves on the base paths in their first at-bats. On the fourth straight ball of the at-bat, shortstop Jose Peraza was hit in the helmet. Peraza advanced all the way to third on a hit-and-run and stolen base, his sixth in six attempts. Designated hitter, Aris Alcantara, singled and pushed Peraza across the plate to open the scoring. Alcantara stole second and reached third on a wild pitch by Mariner's starter Isliexel Gonzalez, who threw 25 pitches in the first inning, 15 balls. The D-Braves then got their second RBI single of the inning from first baseman Casey Kalenkosky, which scored Alcantara and capped the two-run inning.

After three hitless innings, the Mariners got their first hit of the ballgame in the fourth from third baseman Jordy Lara. The M's cut the lead to one with their second consecutive hit of the inning. Left fielder Phillips Castillo doubled Lara home before first baseman Gilmer Lampe lit LaFreniere up for a two-run homerun, his first of the season, which put the M's ahead of the D-Braves on the board, 3-2.

In the fifth, the Braves got some run support from the number 9-1-2 hitters in their order. Fleming doubled for the second time in as many at-bats to lead off the inning. Peraza hit a hard grounder to Lara, who, after looking Fleming back to third, threw to first and beat Peraza to the bag. With the tying-run on second and the go-ahead run at the plate, Fleming was doubled home by second baseman Ronald Luna, which tied the game at three all. The D-Braves retook the lead, 4-3, when Trenton Moses recorded his sixth hit in his eleventh at-bat this series to drive Luna in and cap the D-Braves' second two-run inning of the game.

The D-Braves padded the lead in the sixth and blew the game open in the seventh. They got back-to-back-to-back singles from catcher Troy Snitker, Fleming and Peraza to make it 5-3. And, in the seventh, the D-Braves benefitted from a Mariner's fielding error, passed ball and wild pitch along with a Kalenkosky double and Blake Brown single to give the Braves the 8-3 lead.

D-Braves starter Frank LaFreniere turned in his first quality start of the season. He went 6.0 strong innings and allowed three runs (all earned) on just three hits. Carlos Perez was perfect out of the pen and, after a walk, recorded a season high six strikeouts in the two innings he pitched.

It's Kids Eat Free Night tomorrow at the ballpark. The first 50 kids, 12-and-under, will receive a free kids meal courtesy of Kickback Jacks.

Tomorrow, the D-Braves play host to the Bristol White Sox. The Sox are the cellar dwellers of the Appalachian League West with a 10-26 record. Williams Perez will toe the rubber for the D-Braves. The Sox will send lefty Jefferson Olacio to the mound. Game time is 7:00 p.m. and gates will open an hour beforehand.

Tickets can be purchased by calling the Ticket Office at (434) 797-3792 or in-person at the ALP 325 Field Box Office (Mon. - Fri., 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.).
