Express Sweeps Doubleheader

MEMPHIS, TN - Round Rock swept a doubleheader from Memphis Sunday at AutoZone Park winning 4-2 and 8-5.

In the first game, Yangervis Solarte led the Express going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Julio Borbon drove in two runs and scored one for Round Rock in the win. Matt Adams and Pete Kozma provided the only offense for the 'Birds with an RBI-double in the sixth and a solo home run in the seventh, respectively. Justin Grimm nailed down the victory with six innings of one-run ball for the Express while Neal Cotts picked up his third save. Tyler Lyons tossed his league-leading third complete game loss, allowing four runs on five hits over seven innings while walking two and fanning a career-high 11 batters.

In the nightcap, the Redbirds and Express entered the fourth inning tied at 3. Round Rock sent 10 men to the plate in the fourth for a five-run inning, taking an 8-3 lead over the 'Birds. Memphis closed the gap to three runs with an RBI-single by Lou Montanez and a dinger by Mark Hamilton. Montanez led the Redbirds in game 2, going 2-for-3 with three RBI batting in the two-hole. University of Memphis product Derek Hankins picked up the win for the Express, giving up four runs on five hits over five innings. Adam Reifer suffered the loss for the Redbirds, surrendering five runs on four hits and three walks in just 0.2 innings pitched.
