OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City RedHawks and Devon Energy have teamed up for the second Devon Energy Hometown Heroes Celebration Night of the season on Saturday, July 28 to recognize local service men and women and their families.

"Military families are a special part of our community," RedHawks President and General Manager Michael Byrnes said. "We are honored to partner with Devon Energy to have this night to recognize and celebrate our service men and women along with the families who support them."

Prior to the game, fans can enjoy demonstrations from different military branches, tours of military vehicles, military challenges, and recruiting information in front of the ballpark beginning at 5:30 p.m.

On-field events throughout the evening include a swearing-in ceremony of new Air Force recruits, an armed exhibition team performance, and a welcome home ceremony of deployed Airmen from Tinker Air Force. The 77th Army Band is playing the "National Anthem," and Staff Sergeant Roslyn Evans from the 72nd Medical Group will be performing "God Bless America."

Adam Ward, a Human Resources professional at Devon who also serves as Technical Sergeant, KC-135 Boom Operator in the Oklahoma Air National Guard, and Colonel Steven Bleymaier, 72nd Air Base Wing and Installation Commander at Tinker Air Force Base, will both be in attendance to throw a ceremonial first pitch. Colonel Bleymaier and TSgt. Ward will also help welcome service men and women returning from deployment.

"The event is an important opportunity for Devon Energy," Ward said. "We appreciate the chance to honor our Hometown Heroes on this special occasion and to recognize the sacrifices of our service men and women and their families," Ward said. "It is important to remember the contributions they have made, and continue to make, to ensure our freedom."
