66ers Crush Quakes 10-3

July 24, 2012 - California League (CalL) Inland Empire 66ers

The Inland Empire 66ers (46-56, 15-17) pummeled the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes (49-53, 12-20) 10-3 on Batman Tuesday as the 66ers offense took advantage of a five run 1st inning. 66ers second baseman Taylor Lindsey had the offensive highlight of the night as he belted a two run homer in the 6thinning, his fifth of the year.

The Inland Empire's offense had contributions from everyone in the starting lineup as every single player got on base either via a walk or a hit and either scored or drove in a run. 66ers first baseman C.J. Cron went 3-for-5 with a double and had two RBIs to increase his RBI total to the season to 91 which leads all of High-A baseball. 66ers shortstop Jean Almanzar hit a two RBI single with the bases loaded in the first inning. Almanzar is hitting 5-for-11 with the bases loaded.

66ers starter Manny Correa pitched a fifth consecutive quality start as he went 7 2/3 innings, giving up one earned run and striking out six to earn the win. Correa improved to 6-7 on the year. Quakes starter Brandon Martinez was lit up by Inland Empire's offense and did not last the initial inning pitching only 2/3 of an inning. Martinez was charged with the loss to fall to 3-3.

The 66ers continue their series against the Ranch Cucamonga Quakes tomorrow at 7:05 pm. It will be We Care Wednesday where the 66ers will highlight a charitable organization at the ballpark.
