Pensacola Ice Flyers News Release

Pensacola, Fla. - July 23, 2012 - Head coach of the Pensacola Ice Flyers, Gary Graham, has announced today that forward Ryan Salvis will be returning to Pensacola for the 2012-13 season.

"I'm really excited to get back to Pensacola and continue building on what we started last year," Salvis stated. "With the fan support we had last season, especially throughout the playoffs, it's nice to know you're going to be playing in front of great fans every night. I'm looking forward to working with our new coach who brings a lot of recent success to the team, and I believe with the group coming in we can have a great season and make a deep playoff run like last year."

Salvis had a successful season and was a part of the 2011-12 Ice Flyers team that advanced to the SPHL President's Cup finals. He began last season with the Huntsville Havoc and then signed with the Ice Flyers on Dec. 7, 2012. In 44 games with the Ice Flyers, Salvis tallied six goals and 28 assists for 34 points, placing him fourth in team scoring.

The native of Toronto, Ontario played Tier 1 junior hockey in Canada for the Moncton Wildcats of the QMJHL and spent part of one season with the Lincoln Stars of the USHL. After playing for St. Francis Xavier University, Salvis played with the Laredo Bucks of the CHL where he had 13 goals and 26 assists for 39 points in 54 games played.

Salvis has good patience with the puck, sees the ice well and his big frame allows him to protect the puck well, which will fit in with our style of play, "Graham said of his recent signing. "He has unfinished business from last season and is eager to come into camp in the best shape to help us set the tone early. I look forward to having Ryan provide leadership to our team."
