GRAND JUNCTION, COLO. - The Missoula Osprey scored first and jumped out to a lead, only for the Grand Junction Rockies to rally here at Suplizio Field for a 10-5 win in front of 5,161 fans.

Missoula, who dropped its fifth straight contest, would control the early portion of the game, despite Rockies first baseman Todd Helton getting two hits and a RBI in his first game on a rehabilitation assignment.

The Osprey jumped out to an early 2-0 lead with a sacrifice fly by Socrates Brito, and a two-out RBI single by Ty Linton in the top of the first. The Rockies would answer as Helton singled in a run in the bottom of the third to cut the Missoula edge to 2-1.

Rudy Flores managed to extend the Osprey lead back to 3-1 with a RBI single in the top of the fourth inning and, after the Rockies scored again to pull within 3-2, Jake Lamb hit a two-run home run to right-center field to push the Osprey edge to 5-2 in the top of the fifth inning.

The Rockies would rally, however, against starter Ross Gerdeman, and reliever Dexter Price (2-1), for a run in the fifth and six runs in the home half of the sixth to take a 9-5 lead. Grand Junction would add a run in the bottom of the eighth inning to round out the scoring.

The Osprey were held to just seven hits, with Lamb and Evan Marzilli collecting two hits each. Brito added a single to his sac fly RBI.

Gerdeman was solid in five innings, allowing two earned runs on while scattering eight hits and three walks, and collected four strikeouts.

The Osprey and Rockies will play the third game of their four-game series on Saturday at Suplizio Field. The Osprey will send Chris Pack to the mound, while the Rockies will counter with right-hander Alving Mejias.

The Osprey will return home on Friday, July 27, to take on the Great Falls Voyagers in the beginning of a five-game homestand. Tickets are available now at the MSO Hub Box Office, located at 140 North Higgins in Downtown Missoula, online at MissoulaOsprey.com and by phone (406) 543-3300.
