Dog Days of Summer Continue with Seven at the Joe

July 19, 2012 - South Atlantic League (SAL) Charleston RiverDogs

CHARLESTON, SC - Following another brief road trip, the Charleston RiverDogs conclude their extensive July home schedule with a seven-game homestand that will see them host the Rome Braves and the Asheville Tourists. Both of these teams are fighting with the RiverDogs for first place in the South Atlantic League's Southern Division and that should make the action on the field at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park all the more intense.

July has been a great month for all things "Be Your Own Fan" and that will continue during this seven-game slate. On Friday, July 27, the organization will be putting its own spin on the Summer Olympics by holding Ballpark Olympics during the game. There will be Olympic themed promotions, including a torch run and opening ceremonies as part of the festivities. On Saturday, July 28, Rick Hendrick Jeep Chrysler Dodge of North Charleston and General Dynamics Land Systems Force Protection are presenting Military Appreciation Night. The RiverDogs will pay tribute to all the men and women who risk their lives to help protect us and they will also honor Disabled American Veterans. On that same day, the team is conducting the 13th Annual Kindness Beats Blindness silent auction benefitting MUSC's Storm Eye Institute. The Storm Eye Institute is dedicated to vision research and to researching opportunities in an effort to eliminate diseases that rob people of their sight.

Sunday, July 29 will be CINTAS Clothe the Kids Day at the ballpark. All fans who bring five gently used items of youth clothing to the CINTAS truck will receive a voucher for a free general admission ticket. Gullah/Geechee Heritage Night will also be held on July 29 as a celebration of Gullah/Geechee culture and its history and tradition. The evening will feature Gullah/Geechee promotions and displays.

Monday, July 23 - 7:05 pm: Dogs With A Cause Featuring Integrative Cancer Care, Hair of the Dog Monday, Highway Patrol Blood Drive

Fans who come out to Monday's game can visit the Ashley View Pub for $1 beers on Hair of the Dog Monday. Prior to the game, Highway Patrol will be conducting a blood drive in the stadium parking lot. The RiverDogs will continue to show their support for local organizations on Dogs With A Cause Night and on this night they will feature Integrative Cancer Care. The ICC is a group dedicated to providing the most advanced therapies, services and products to cancer patients and their families.

Tuesday, July 24 - 7:05 pm: Two-for-Tuesday, Craft Beer Tap Tuesday

The Riley Park box office will be offering day-of-the-game, buy-one, get-one ticket specials on Two-for-Tuesday. Craft Beer Tap Tuesday will give fans the chance to taste some outstanding craft beers, including Leinenkugel Summer Shandy, Blue Moon and Yuengling Light.

Wednesday, July 25 - 7:05 pm: Senior Wednesday, MillerCoors Aluminum Pint Nite, YP.com Night

All fans 65 or older can take advantage of the great deal that is Senior Wednesday at The Joe, as they will receive a voucher for a free hot dog, soda and chips. MillerCoors Aluminum Pint Nite is a great deal for all fans, with aluminum pints available for only $3. YP.com Night will also be held at the stadium on Wednesday evening.

Thursday, July 26 - 7:05 pm: Budweiser Thirsty Thursday, Who's the (Bat)Man?, Charleston County Recycling Night

The excitement of another Budweiser Thirsty Thursday returns, offering $1 food and drink specials in the Ashley View Pub and the one and only DJ Natty Heavy will be providing the soundtrack. The RiverDogs will once again be encouraging everyone to be environmentally conscious on Charleston County Recycling Night. With the release of another Batman movie, fans at park will have the chance to decide on who the real batman is on Who's the (Bat)Man Night.

Friday, July 27 - 7:05 pm: General Dynamics Land Systems Force Protection Red Shirt Friday, Ballpark Olympics, Piggly Wiggly Postgame Fireworks

Break out the red if you are coming to Friday's game because General Dynamics Land Systems Force Protection Red Shirt Friday will give $1 off on tickets to anyone wearing red. Anyone feeling generous can then donate that single to a military family in need. Ballpark Olympics will be bringing the spirit of the Summer Olympic Games to the Lowcountry and Piggly Wiggly Postgame Fireworks will, as always, provide the perfect start to anyone's weekend.

Saturday, July 28 - 7:05 pm: Lowcountry Local First Go Local Saturday, Rick Hendrick Jeep Chrysler Dodge of North Charleston and General Dynamics Land Systems Force Protection Military Appreciation Night, RP Auction, Jorts Patch Giveaway, Postgame Kids Run The Bases

Military Appreciation Night, sponsored by Rick Hendrick Jeep Chrysler Dodge of North Charleston and General Dynamics Land Systems Force Protection, will give everyone a chance to show their support for those protecting this country. The 13th Annual Kindness Beats Blindness silent auction will be held to benefit MUSC's Storm Eye Institute. All tri-county residents can save $1 on tickets at the stadium box office on Go Local Saturday, presented by Lowcountry Local First. The first 1,000 fans through the gate will receive a free Jorts Patch on another Saturday giveaway day and anyone wearing Jorts will save $1 on tickets at the box office. After the game, the infield will open up for postgame kids run the bases.

Sunday, July 29 - 5:05 pm: Charleston Country Parks and Recreation and Crews Subaru Family Sunday, CINTAS Clothe the Kids Clothes Day, Gullah/Geechee Heritage Night

CCPRC and Crews Subaru Family Sunday will comprise all the usual items including Free Parking and Kids Eat Free, sponsored by Pepsi. Kids who get to the game early can have a pregame catch on the field, reading with a RiverDog will take place again and so will the postgame autograph session with the entire team. Fans can receive a voucher for a free general admission ticket if they bring five gently used items of youth clothing to the CINTAS truck on CINTAS Clothe the Kids Day. The RiverDogs will also be saluting the history and traditions of the Gullah/Geechee Nation on Gullah/Geechee Heritage Night.
