Calgary Stampeders News Release

After three games against East Division opponents to open the 2012 season, the Calgary Stampeders (1-2) play host to a West Division rival on Thursday night. The Saskatchewan Roughriders (3-0) make their first and only visit to McMahon Stadium during the 2012 regular season.

The Wild West Showdown, presented by Nissan, is the first of three regular-season meetings between the Stamps and Riders. The teams will also meet on Aug. 25 and Sept. 23 in Regina. In 2011, the Stamps went 4-0 against the Riders, winning two games in Calgary and two in Regina.

Thursday's game is subject to local blackout and fans are encouraged to visit Stampeders.com for ticket information.

Game-day experience The Stampeders have partnered with the UFC and the organizations will play host to pre-game festivities. The UFC's Octagon Nation, a mobile fan event, will be set up in the east parking lot of McMahon Stadium from 3-6 p.m. The Octagon Nation Big Rig will feature guest fighter appearances, an autograph signing with UFC fighters and Stampeders players and alumni, interactive booths and rare UFC memorabilia.

Right next to Octagon Nation will be the Stamps Fun Zone, where fans can enjoy live music, food and beverages and meet members of the Stampeder Outriders, presented by Grey Eagle Casino.

Prior to kickoff, UFC Canada director of operations Tom Wright will sing the national anthem. Wright was commissioner of the CFL from 2002-06.

The first 2,000 fans wearing red at the gates will receive a red horn, presented by Nissan. Keep an eye out for Nissan Titan trucks at any stadium entrance to receive yours.
