COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (Friday, July 13, 2012) - The Colorado Rapids acquired defender Tyson Wahl in a trade with the Montreal Impact on Friday, sending an International Roster Spot for the 2014 season to the Canadian club in exchange. Wahl, 28, has made a total of 82 regular season appearances (70 starts) for Kansas City, Seattle and Montreal in his seven MLS seasons.

"Tyson is a natural left-footed defender with good skill and size," said Rapids Technical Director Paul Bravo. "We're excited to be able to add such an experienced player without compromising our roster flexibility as we move into the second half of the season."

Wahl, a native of Newport Beach, Calif. and an alum of the University of California-Berkeley, joined MLS in 2006 as a member of the Kansas City Wizards, where he played for three seasons before being selected by Seattle Sounders FC in the 2008 MLS Expansion Draft. He played 39 games (36 starts) for the Sounders, also helping the club to three U.S. Open Cup wins, and was traded to Montreal after the season. He made 11 appearances (all starts) with the Impact this season before joining the Rapids.

The Rapids take on FC Dallas tomorrow at Dick's Sporting Goods Park, with a Coca-Cola Family Pack available, giving fans 4 tickets, 4 meals, and 4 Coca-Cola products for just $49.
