New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
MANCHESTER, N.H. - Brad Glenn, John Tolisano, and Jack Murphy all homered onThursday night, powering the Fisher Cats (35-49) to an 11-3 rout of the Portland Sea Dogs (34-52) at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. The victory is the fifth in a row for the Fisher Cats, setting a new season high heading into the series finale on Friday night.
The Fisher Cats were late to the offensive show, recording four hitless innings against Portland starter Chris Hernandez (4-7). In the fifth, Glenn's 13th blast - his sixth since coming off the disabled list - tied the game at 1-1 and set the stage for a four-run inning.
After the home run, Brian Bocock doubled, took third on a sacrifice, and executed a double steal with Brian Van Kirk (four stolen bases) to make it a 2-1 game. Singles by newcomer Jake Marisnick (Double-A debut) and Mark Sobolewski pushed the lead to 4-1 by the end of the frame.
Fernando Hernandez (2-6) kept the Sea Dogs at bay after the Fisher Cats took the lead in the fourth. He allowed two runs over six solid innings, scattering seven hits with a career-high-tying six strikeouts.
The Fisher Cats scored four runs in the seventh, highlighted by a Ryan Goins two-run single. Sobolewski added another run-scoring hit later in the inning before Tolisano and Murphy hit solo home runs in the bottom of the eighth.
Glenn led a 12-hit attack going 2-4 with his seventh multi-hit game since leaving the DL. Marisnick, in his Double-A debut, went 2-5 with an RBI while Sobo and Murphy each had two hits and drove in two runs.
Fisher Cats pitchers had to deal with two more rehabbing Red Sox outfielders. Carl Crawford was 1-4 with his first extra-base hit - a triple - on his rehab assignment. Ryan Sweeney was 1-4 with a first-inning single.
New Hampshire now goes for the sweep on Friday night at 7:05 PM with post-game Atlas Fireworks. Tickets are available at www.nhfishercats.com.
Friday's pitching match-up features RHP John Stilson (2-1, 3.18) for the Fisher Cats against Portland LHP Drake (1-2, 4.11). Radio coverage begins at 6:45 PM with Tom Gauthier and Charlie Sherman on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network and www.nhfishercats.com.
