Yan, a 30-year-old veteran who has played with four different major league organizations, is now 14 for his last 23 at bats and has scored 19 runs in 20 games. His RBI single in the third gave Rio Grande Valley a 3-0 lead en route to a 4-run frame, while he scored his second run of the day when he came home on a Mario Mercedes double in the top of the sixth inning off losing pitcher Brian Henschel (2-4) to make the score 6-0.
Other key hits included first baseman Bryan Marquez's single to right with two out in the bottom of the third to drive in Luis Sumozo and Yan to make the score 5-0, and Mercedes' 2-run single in the top of the ninth to cap the Rio Grande valley scoring.
Cory Patton doubled in three runs, all charged to Erinzon Bautista, in the bottom of the seventh after Polanco was taken out and the Colts (15-17) rallied for four runs off Bautista and Wander Perez to make the score 7-4.
But the WhiteWings were able to add a single run in the eighth off David Phillips and three more in the ninth off Russell Johns to put the game away.
