Fort Worth Cats News Release

FORT WORTH - To boost the right side of the plate for the offense of the Fort Worth Cats, first baseman Luis Blanco was signed to the roster Wednesday morning.

Luis Blanco is a Venezuelan born right-handed batter that began the season as a member of the McAllen Thunder. He played 17 games for McAllen and batted .259 with 15 hits, 1 home run, and 9 RBIs. Blanco's last game was on June 21 against Edinburg where he went 0-for-3 with a walk and 2 strikeouts. He was released shortly after by the Thunder staff.

In order for Blanco to be signed to the roster, first baseman Gabe Memmert was released. The 36 year old left-handed batter went .264 with 5 RBIs in 16 games for the Cats.

Luis Blanco is in the starting lineup Wednesday night as the Cats host his former team, the McAllen Thunder.

The Cats have begun an eight-game home stand that has some fantastic promotional nights, including Pink in the Park on Friday night and Military Night on July 1. A fireworks show will conclude the game on July 3, along with a postgame concert after the city's firework show on July 4. Tickets can be purchased online at FWCats.com or by phone at (817) 332-CATS.
