Idaho Stampede News Release

BOISE, Idaho, June 26, 2012 - The Idaho Stampede have joined in the effort to get Jerry Kramer into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.

Kramer has the backing of the entire Stampede organization, namely, the team's owners, including Alan Bermensolo, Gary Hunter, Gary Michael and Skip Smyser. Michael was the school's interim President from 2003-04, while Hunter was the Athletic Director there from 1988 to 1992; Bermensolo graduated from the University in 1976. Kramer has helped past political campaigns of Smyser.

"Jerry's accomplishments on the field with the Green Bay Packers were remarkable, but his support of the game of football in general, and particularly at the University of Idaho, are beyond measure," said Stampede owner and former Athletic Director at the University of Idaho, Gary Hunter. "Nothing would make me happier than to see him enter the Hall of Fame."

"Jerry Kramer not only belongs in the Pro Football Hall of Fame for his exploits on the field, he belongs because of the integrity he brings to the game wherever he goes," said Stampede owner and life-long Idaho resident Skip Smyser.

Kramer played for 10 years in the NFL, accumulating two Super Bowl titles, five NFL championships and numerous All-Pro selections. Kramer was named to the 50th Anniversary team and was selected for the NFL 1960s All-Decade team - Kramer is the only member of the 50th Anniversary team to not be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Making his name as an offensive lineman, Kramer also kicked the winning field goal in the 1962 NFL Championship game and made a key block on the game-winning touchdown during 1967 NFL Championship game, commonly referred to as the "Ice Bowl."

The Stampede organization asks its fans, season ticket holders and corporate partners to help get Kramer to the Hall of Fame, a deserved honor for the football star.

Stampede season ticket holders, fans and corporate partners, along with all Idahoans, are asked to nominate Kramer by writing a letter or sending a postcard to the following address: Pro Football Hall of Fame, Attn: Nominations, 2121 George Halas Drive N.W., Canton OH 44708.
