Frisco RoughRiders News Release

FRISCO, TEXAS (JUNE 4, 2012) -The Frisco RoughRiders are proud to announce that infielders Jurickson Profar and Mike Olt have been honored for their recent outstanding play. Profar has been named the "Topps Texas League Player of the Month" for May while Olt was recognized as the "Texas League Player of the Week" for the week of May 28 - June 3.

Profar, a 19-year-old shortstop prospect from Willemstad, Curacao, hit .322 in May with three home runs, nine doubles, two triples, 14 runs batted in and 21 runs scored. He led the league in runs scored, extra-base hits (14) and doubles and tied for the league lead in total bases (59). The youngest player in the Texas League, Profar reached base in all 28 games he played in May and recently saw the end of his consecutive games on-base streak end at 50. He also had a 29-game hitting streak end last month; both the hitting streak and the on-base streak are the longest by any player in Major or Minor League Baseball in 2012.

The Rangers promoted Profar to Frisco to start the season, skipping the Advanced-A level. He is widely recognized as the top prospect in the Texas farm system and a consensus top-ten prospect across all of Minor League Baseball. Last year, in his first full professional season, Profar was named the South Atlantic League MVP after hitting .286 with 12 home runs, 37 doubles, eight triples and 65 RBI for Single-A Hickory.

Olt claimed the weekly Texas League honor, the first for a Frisco position player since Tommy Mendonca won the award last June. The former supplemental first rounder is currently red-hot at the plate, having blasted two home runs in each of his last three games. Over the last week, Olt hit .522 (12 for 23) with six home runs, one double, 11 runs batted in and ten runs scored. He led the Minors in home runs over the last week and also topped all Minor Leaguers in slugging percentage (1.348) and OPS (1.925).

Olt, 23, entered the season ranked by Baseball America as the Rangers' third-best prospect and he has lived up to his billing after missing roughly half of 2011 with a broken collarbone while playing for Advanced-A Myrtle Beach. For the season, he is batting .318 with 17 home runs, 11 doubles, one triple, 45 runs batted in and 38 runs scored. The Branford, Conn. native leads all active Texas Leaguers in batting average (and is second overall behind former Northwest Arkansas outfielder Wil Myers), home runs, runs batted in, extra-base hits (29) and total bases (127). Olt is also among the league leaders in hits (third, 63), on-base percentage (third, .419), slugging percentage (.641), runs scored (second, 38) and best HR/AB ratio (third, 1/11.65). His 17 home runs tie him for third-most in the Minors.

The 'Riders finish their home stand tonight at 7:00 against the Northwest Arkansas Naturals. For ticket information, please call (972) 731-9200 or visit www.ridersbaseball.com.
