SALISBURY, MD - The Hickory Crawdads completed the series sweep with the 3-2 win against the Delmarva Shorebirds, before 2,547 fans at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium on Wednesday night .

After Crawdads RHP Jerad Eickhoff and Delmarva RHP Zach Davies alternated scoreless innings through the first three frames, the Shorebirds (21-31) struck first in the bottom of the fourth inning. RF Brenden Webb led off with a walk, moved to second on a ground out and the stole third base. Webb then came in on a sacrifice fly by C Gabriel Lino, giving Delmarva the 1-0 lead.

The Crawdads (26-25) battled it back even in the top of the sixth inning. With one away, 2B Rougned Odor dribbled an infield single just inside the third base line to get on. He then stole second base, drawing an errant throw from C Gabriel Lino, which enabled Odor to take third base on the play. SS Luis Sardinas then tied the game with an RBI single to left field, squaring the score at 1-1.

Hickory then plated a pair in the top of the eighth inning against RHP Devin Jones (L, 0-3) to move in front. With one out, Odor belted a double to left-center field to spark the charge. After a wild pitch moved Odor to third, Sardinas struck again with an RBI infield single just inside the first-base line to bring in Odor. In his attempt to field Sardinas's base hit, Jones misfired past first base with a two-base throwing error, advancing Sardinas all the way to third. RF Chris Grayson then bounced a grounder to third that Sardinas broke home on right away. 3B Jason Esposito fielded the grounder and fired home, but threw the ball away for an error that allowed Sardinas to slide home safely for the 3-1 lead.

Delmarva attempted to come back with a run in the bottom of the eighth against LHP Kevin Matthews (W, 1-0), but Matthews worked out of trouble with the Crawdads up, 3-2. RHP Arlett Mavare (S, 1) then took over for the bottom of the ninth and, after a leadoff single against him, struck out the side to close the Crawdads 3-2 win.
