(WHITAKER BANK BALLPARK, Lexington, Ky.) Luis Cruz pitched seven shutout innings and the Lexington Legends offense produced six runs on only eight hits in a 6-1 win over the Augusta GreenJackets Wednesday night.

Cruz (5-1) scattered seven hits and struck out five batters en route to the win. Evan Grills pitched the final two innings for the Legends.

Lexington opened the scoring in the first. Delino DeShields Jr. led off with a walk. Two outs later, he advanced to second on a balk, and then stole third base, his South Atlantic League-leading 32nd steal of the season. He scored on Matt Duffy's single to left. The base hit extended Duffy's hitting streak to 11 games.

The Legends added another run in the second when Jesse Wierzbicki led off with a triple and scored when Roberto Pena grounded out.

The Legends increased the lead to 5-0 in the fifth. Chan Jong Moon, who was 3-for-3 in the game, led off with a single and scored on Jordan Scott's one-out double to left. After Zach Johnson walked, Duffy grounded out, moving Scott to third and Johnson to second. Adalberto Mejia relieved starter Chris Marlowe at that point, and Wierzbicki followed with a single to right that plated Scott and Johnson.

The Legends added one more run in the eighth. With two outs, Moon singled, advanced to second on a wild pitch, and scored on DeShields' single to center.

Augusta scored its only run in the ninth. Former University of Louisville standout Jeff Arnold led off with a double, advanced to third on a single by Garrett Buechele, and scored when Elliott Blair grounded into a double play, leaving the score at 6-1.

Marlowe (1-2) pitched into the fifth inning and was handed the loss, allowing five runs.

The Legends continue their home stand against the Rome Braves on Thursday night. First pitch at Whitaker Bank Ballpark is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
