Lancers Acquire Grant Besse in Trade with Muskegon

OMAHA, Neb. - The Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) are pleased to announce they have acquired forward Grant Besse in a trade with the Muskegon Lumberjacks. In exchange, Muskegon receives Omaha's third round pick in the 2013 USHL Entry Draft. Considered one of the top high school players in the state of Minnesota, Besse has spent the last three seasons at Benilde-St. Margaret's High School and is expected to join the Lancers for the 2013-2014 season.

"We're extremely excited to get one of the top high school players currently playing in the state of Minnesota," Head Coach/GM Mike Aikens said. "We expect Grant to be an impact player in the USHL and believe he has the potential to put up huge numbers in his rookie season."

A 5'10", 170 pound forward from Plymouth, Minnesota, Besse has tallied 169 points (96 goals, 73 assists) in just 75 career games at Benilde-St. Margaret's. As a junior last season, Besse averaged an astounding three points per game notching 75 points (40 goals, 35 assists) in just 25 games. He followed those impressive regular season totals with an eye-popping 12 goals and 18 points in the Minnesota state tournament, which included all five goals in Benilde's 5-1 Class AA championship game victory over Hill-Murray.

Originally selected 59th overall (Round 4) by Muskegon in the 2010 USHL Futures Draft, Besse is already committed to the University of Wisconsin for the 2014-2015 season.
