May 22, 2012 - Canadian Football League (CFL) Calgary Stampeders

Calgary Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel is pleased to announce that import defensive backs Fred Bennett and Chris Randle have signed with the team. As per club policy, terms of the agreements were not disclosed.

Bennett was selected in the fourth round (123rd overall) by the Houston Texans in the 2007 NFL Draft. Bennett recorded 62 tackles and three interceptions as a rookie with Houston in 2007 and later played with the San Diego Chargers, Cincinnati Bengals and Arizona Cardinals. He spent four seasons (2003-06) with the South Carolina Gamecocks and recorded 108 tackles and nine interceptions during his college career. Bennett was also a two-time All-American while at South Carolina.

Randle was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Dallas Cowboys in July 2011 and attended the team's training camp. He played four seasons at Utah State and was a starter during his final two years with theAggies. Randle played 43 games and recorded 154 tackles, including six tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, four interceptions and 23 pass break-ups.
