Forward Crystal Langhorne led the team in scoring and scored 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Monique Currie added 14 points, three rebounds, and two assists. The Chicago Sky were led by center Sylvia Fowles who posted a double-double with a game-high 23 points and 12 rebounds.

Fowles shot 10-for-14 from the field. Sky guard Epiphanny Prince and forward Swin Cash contributed 16 and 14 points respectively in Chicago's win.

WASHINGTON MYSTICS FORWARD ASHLEY ROBINSON

Overall thoughts on the game: "Today's game was disappointing; we didn't play our best. It was the little things and I think that's something that has to be better. We need to start figuring out how to do all the little things in basketball because that's going to make us a good team.

We have to be hungry, and we have to change the atmosphere of the game."

FrOm the FrOnt line:

The season did not start the way the Mystics had hoped, as they dropped their season opener, 69-57, on Saturday night to the Chicago Sky. But, it's important to give this new-look team at least a few games before passing judgment. With a roster overhaul in the off-season, the team has begun to come together over the first few weeks of training camp, but nothing can simulate live game action and this group will need to build some cohesiveness on the court before the process is complete. The good news is that many of the issues from Saturday's game were self-imposed and are areas that can now be fixed after reviewing film and getting repetitions in practice. It was nice to see a healthy Monique Currie on the floor and Jasmine Thomas looked crisp after sitting out most of camp with tendonitis. Hopefully the Mystics will get Matee Ajavon back soon, as she finished 2nd on the team in points in 2011, and should help create more offense in the half court set.
