FORT MYERS, Fla. (May 7, 2012) - Anderson Hidalgo continued to swing a hot bat by bashing a grand slam and collecting six RBIs to lead the Fort Myers Miracle to a 12-3 win over the Lakeland Flying Tigers on Monday.

With the win the Miracle salvaged a split with the Flying Tigers and won back-to-back games for the first time since April 14 and 15.

Hidalgo, who collected his first three RBIs of the season on Sunday, ripped a two-run double in the second inning on Monday to tie the game 2-2. In the fifth inning he drilled pitch from Luis Angel Sanz over the left field wall for a grand slam to put Fort Myers up 8-3.

Hidalgo totaled nine RBIs in the final two games of the series.

Miracle starter Pat Dean earned his first victory of the season. Dean pitched 5 2/3 innings and allowed three runs, only one earned, and struck out two.

Lakeland starter Alex Burgos (1-4) struggled with his control in his 4 1/3 innings of work. He walked six and four of those free passes came around to score.

The Flying Tigers took advantage of an error by Jairo Perez and a misplayed ball in center field by Daniel Ortiz in the first inning to take a 2-0 lead. That lasted until Hidalgo came through with his two-run double in the second.

A solo home run by Edgar Corcino off of Dean put the Flying Tigers back ahead 3-2.

The Miracle scored six in the fifth to take control. Dan Rohlfing worked a one-out walk and moved to second on a Josmil Pinto single. Burgos walked Ortiz on a full count to load the bases. Perez then belted a single to left that tied the game 3-3 and chased Burgos.

Sanz was brought in and walked Lance Ray to force home the go-ahead run. Hidalgo followed with his towering grand slam.

Fort Myers tacked on four more runs off of Sanz in the eighth. Rohlfing hit a sac fly, Perez followed with his second RBI single and Ray narrowly missed a grand slam of his own when he line a two-run double off the top of the right field wall.

Not to be out done was Miracle first baseman Michael Gonzales, who had a team-high three hits.

The Miracle (12-19) will continue interleague play when they travel to Dunedin to start a four-game set against the Blue Jays on Tuesday at 6:35 p.m.
