Inland Empire 66ers News Release

San Jose, CA - Inland Empire ended a frustrating 15 inning scoreless stretch in San Jose but could not come up with the winning formula, falling to the San Jose Giants by a 5-2 final. San Jose (19-11) scored four in the 1st to set the tone and help send the 66ers (15-15) back to a .500 record.

Manaurys Correa made his first start since throwing a complete game shutout against the California League's top offense of High Desert. But despite entering the contest with a sterling 0.48 ERA San Jose was able to knock in five runs in just three innings against the 66ers starter.

Inland Empire's offense continued to struggle until Taylor Lindsey came through with a 7th inning RBI double to score Brian Hernandez all the way from first. Jean Almanzar had a pinch hit RBI single later in the frame to get the tying run to the plate for Inland Empire, but the 66ers failed to score again in the game.

The 66ers bullpen did put in five strong innings of work with Buddy Boshers striking out a season best five batters in three innings. Tyler Kehrer threw two scoreless innings as well including two punch outs.

The series and the road trip will wrap up for Inland Empire Sunday afternoon with a 1:00 start from San Jose. Inland Empire will be trying to avoid the first sweep in San Jose since 2004. Fans can hear the game beginning with the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians Pre Game Show on AM 1050 KCAA.
