WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The Dash withstood a first-inning charge by Salem to rally for a 10-8 win in front of 5,934 fans on a Primo Pink Out Friday night at BB&T Ballpark.

Winston-Salem (17-10) sent 10 batters to the plate and scored five runs in the fifth inning to take an 8-5 lead. Daniel Wagner led off with a single before Carlos Sanchez drilled his first home run of the season to tie the game. Michael Earley and Dan Black also knocked singles and scored on RBI hits from Mike Blanke and Juan Silverio.

The Dash never trailed after the fifth inning but did tack on two more runs in the seventh to extend the lead to 10-7. Dan Black reached on an error to start the inning and Nick Ciolli blasted a two-run shot to left field for his second home run of the season.

Salem (14-12) jumped out to an early lead with four runs in the first inning. Jackie Bradley Jr. singled and scored to continue his torrid start for the Red Sox. Michael Almanzar plated two more runs on a single to right field.

The Dash bullpen combined to slow down the Salem offense over the final five innings. Justin Collop (3-0) gave up one run over two innings. Nick McCully struck out four in two innings of work before Leroy Hunt entered in the ninth. The Winston-Salem closer allowed one run on two hits, but struck out the side to record his league-leading sixth save of the season.

In the victory, Marcus Semien extended his hit streak to a Dash season-high 12 games with a single in the sixth inning while Ciolli pushed his streak to nine games.

Winston-Salem looks to take game two of the series when Ryan Buch (2-1, 4.76 ERA) takes the mound tomorrow night. Salem counters with 2011 first-round pick Matt Barnes. The right-hander is set to make his first start of the season for the Red Sox.
