Bowie, MD - Bowie catcher Caleb Joseph clubbed a pair of two-run doubles Friday night, including one during a three-run eighth inning rally, to help the Baysox come from behind and beat the Akron Aeros, 7-5, at Prince George's Stadium.

Trailing 5-4, entering the eighth inning, the Baysox (12-16) rallied against Akron reliever Bryan Price (1-1) to take the lead for good. After Price gave up a walk and single to lead off the inning, he struck out Bowie's Manny Machado. Joseph followed Machado, and laced a double to left to score two runs for a 6-5 lead. One batter later, Robbie Widlansky doubled to score Joseph and make it 7-5.

Bowie closer Greg Burke tossed a perfect ninth to seal the win for Eddie Gamboa (2-0), who tossed three scoreless innings of relief for Bowie. It was Burke's fifth save.

The Aeros (17-8) lost for the second straight night, the first time this season that they have lost back-to-back games.

Playing before the largest crowd of the season, 8,212, the Aeros jumped on the board in the top of the first on Chun Chen's two run homer off Jake Petit. It was Chen's first homer of the season.

Bowie came back with three in the first inning, highlighted by Joseph's first two-run double of the night, against Aeros starter Eric Burger. An error on Juan Diaz helped extend the inning and made all three runs unearned. It was the second straight night that the Aeros allowed three unearned runs in the first inning.

After the score was tied 4-4, Diaz made up for his first-inning error with his first homer of the season, a drive off Petit in the fifth to give the Aeros a 5-4 lead.

Akron's Jared Goedert, who entered the game as the league's leading hitter, went 2-4, to raise his average to .395.

The Aeros and Baysox will meet in game two of the series Saturday evening at 6:35. LHP T.J. McFarland (4-1, 2.22) goes for Akron against LHP Cole McCurry (0-4, 5.87) of Bowie. All Aeros games are broadcast on Fox Sports 1350 AM and online at www.akronaeros.com. For more information, please call the Aeros at 330-253-5151.
