NEWS & NOTES:

- About Last Night - The Carolina Mudcats earned a series win at Lynchburg by shutting out the Hillcats 3-0. Mike Rayl (3-3) and the bullpen combined for the two hitter. Jesus Aguilar launched two home runs to provide all the offense Carolina needed.

- The "Keys" to the Series - Carolina clashes with the Frederick Keys for the first time. The Keys are defending Carolina League champions, defeating Kinston 3-1 in the series. The Keys won the 2011 season series against Kinston 11-9. The Mudcats are 9-5 against the Northern division this year.

- Set 'em Up, Put 'em Down - The Mudcats bullpen has stifled opposing hitters recently, tossing seven scoreless frames in a row against Lynchburg. Dale Dickerson has made four appearances without allowing a run, and opposing right-handed hitters have a measly .152 average in 33 at-bats against him. Trey Haley has four scoreless innings, and Shawn Armstrong hasn't allowed a run in 14.1 frames (six appearances).

- Tee it High, Let it Fly - Jesus Aguilar has put together a five-game hitting streak. He has homered four times during this stretch. Aguilar finished the series against Lynchburg hitting .571 (8x14) with three HRs and four RBI.

- Rayl Rolling - Starter Mike Rayl picked up his third win of the year against Lynchburg by blanking the Hillcats for six innings. He scattered two hits. Rayl has held opponents to a run or less in three of his last four starts. He's amassed 26 strikeouts to only nine walks.
