Savannah Pitching Keys 3-1 Win over Shorebirds

Savannah, GA - Domingo Tapia held the Delmarva Shorebirds (13-13) in check for 7.1 innings leading the Savannah Sand Gnats to a 3-1 game two win at Historic Grayson Stadium. The Sand Gnats have secured the series win.

Savannah jumped to an early lead in the first. Brandon Brown hit the second pitch of the game to the left field corner for a double. Two batters later, Travis Taijeron singled home Brown.

In the second, Albert Cordero hit a two out home run over the left field wall, his first of the year.

The Sand Gnats added a run in the sixth inning. With a runner at first, Charley Thurber hit a line drive that bounced over the glove off Brenden Webb, who slid forward to try and make the catch, allowing Taijeron to score from first.

The Shorebirds lone run came in the eighth inning on a sacrifice fly to right field by Glynn Davis. Connor Narron hit a one out single and scored on the fly ball to right field.

Savannah starter Domingo Tapia did not allow a run over 7.1 innings to earn his second win of the year.

Shorebirds starter Parker Bridwell allowed three runs over 5.2 innings. He struck out four and did not issue a walk. Bridwell retired 13 of 15 batters at one point during the outing.

The Shorebirds and Sand Gnats play the series finale on Friday night at 7:05pm. RHP Tyler Wilson is the scheduled starter for Delmarva.
