(Vancouver) As the saying goes, you don't mess with a good thing and fans of the BC Lions will be pleased to know that the launch of the club's new home and away jerseys by Reebok does not include a drastic change from its current look.

Ask the players if their jerseys have changed and they'll tell you it's like night and day, as the Lions along with West Division rivals Edmonton, Calgary and Saskatchewan unveiled their 2012 jerseys at events across Western Canada today.

"Orange is our colour and our fans have indicated that they do not want us to tinker with that," said club president and CEO Dennis Skulsky. "Our look continues to be unique among the rest of the teams in the league and our only change is the removal of the black ribbing on both the home and away jersey. The technological updates in both the authentic jerseys and the version available to fans however, are significant."

The CFL, along with Reebok, completed a two-year re-engineering process in close collaboration with all eight teams and produced jerseys that have increased elasticity, improved resiliency and moisture wicking technology. All re-engineered jerseys will have the same game-changing technological improvements, but the design updates are unique to each team.

"I love the updated feel," said Lions veteran receiver Geroy Simon, who was on hand to model the new look and will be wearing it proudly as he pursues a new career mark for receiving yards when the Lions kick off the 2012 season on Friday, June 29th with a Grey Cup rematch versus the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. "It literally fits like a glove and makes holding almost impossible for defenders. This kind of technology changes the game and that's exciting for both players and fans."

Fan jerseys have also gone under the proverbial microscope and as a result, the replica model available now is a more comfortable fabric and features optional number kits that more closely resemble the 'sewn-on" look of authentic jerseys.

The new BC Lions jersey is available exclusively today at BC Place (Gate A) until 6:00 pm and then through Wednesday, May 9th at the Lions team store in Surrey (10605 City Parkway) as well as online at bclions.com.

BC Lions Training Camp presented by Sun Peaks Resort gets underway in beautiful Kamloops, BC on Sunday, June 3rd. The Lions begin defence of their Grey Cup title with a preseason tilt versus Saskatchewan on Wednesday, June 13th before kicking off the regular season versus Winnipeg on Friday, June 29th. BC Lions 2012 season tickets are now on sale, call 604.589.ROAR for details or visit bclions.com.
