Fresno Grizzlies News Release

Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno Grizzlies offense went down quietly on Friday night as they lost 6-0 to the Colorado Springs Sky Sox at Chukchansi Park in the second game of the four-game series. The Grizzlies mustered a season low four hits in the game, including two by catcher Eli Whiteside.

The Sky Sox staked their claim to the game's only necessary lead in the second inning. After a wild pitch advanced Brandon Wood to second base, Chad Tracy drove him in with a line drive single to left center and making it 1-0 Sky Sox.

Home runs by Brendan Harris and Tommy Field in the third inning padded the Sky Sox lead to 5-0. Harris' blast led off the inning and was on the first pitch thrown by Grizzlies starter Brian Burres. Field hit his home three batters later, driving in Charlie Blackmon and Matt McBride.

Andrew Brown capped the game's scoring in the ninth with an RBI single to drive in Harris. Harris hit a one-out double in the frame to put himself in scoring position.

Burres (1-2) suffered the loss after allowing all five runs on seven hits in five innings. He walked three and struck out two.

Colorado Springs starter Tyler Chatwood did not pitch long enough to earn the win despite not allowing a run in his four innings pitched. Reliever Edgar Gonzalez (1-0) was handed the win after throwing a scoreless fifth inning.

The loss was the first Grizzlies' first shutout loss following a shutout victory the day before since April 8th and 9th in 2005 against Tacoma. The Grizzlies beat the Rainiers 3-0 before losing 6-0 the following day back in 2005.

The Grizzlies and Sky Sox will meet for game three of the four-game set on Saturday. First pitch is 7:05 pm.
