Gibson Awarded Charles Chalkin Memorial Trophy

The Kitchener Rangers Hockey Club announced that John Gibson is the recipient of the Charles Chalkin Memorial Trophy as the team's best performer in the playoffs.

Originally drafted by Kitchener in the 2009 OHL Priority Selection, Gibson has been outstanding in net for the Rangers in his first year with the organization.

Gibson started all 16 playoff games for the Rangers and ended the postseason with a 0.938 save percentage.

"John brought forward his strong play from the regular season to the playoffs and he gave us the opportunity to win every game." - Head Coach and General Manager Steve Spott.

The 6'3 goalie was selected by the Anaheim Ducks in the 2nd round in the 2011 NHL Draft. Gibson signed with the Ducks in March 2012.

During the 2011-12 regular season, Gibson held an impressive 2.75 goals against average and led the league in save percentage with an average of 0.928.
