Lions Add Two to Defence

(Vancouver) The BC Lions Football Club officially announced today that defensive backs Gerard Lawson and Kwasi Nkansah have been signed by the team.

Lawson brings NFL experience to the Lions secondary as the Oregon State grad spent the 2008 and 2009 seasons with the Cleveland Browns appearing in 20 games. Follow a stint during the 2010 campaign with Hartford of the UFL, he signed with the Philadelphia Eagles and dressed for one game.

Nkansah signed with the Montreal Alouettes in 2009 following a five-year career at St. Francis Xavier. He spent the 2011 season in Germany with the Osnabruck Tigers. Nkansah was a college teammate of current Leos Akeem Foster and Cauchy Muamba. While at St. FX he appeared in 36 games registering 115 tackles and six interceptions.

Both Lawson and Nkansah will report to Lions training camp in Kamloops, BC which is slated to begin on Wednesday, May 30th for first-year Leos. Main camp will get underway on Sunday, June 3rd.
