Dominik Uher has signed an Amateur Tryout Agreement and has joined the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, the American Hockey League affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguin, for their playoff run.

Uher led the Chiefs with 33 goals in 63 games, six game winning goals and was second on the team with 35 assists, 68 points and a plus-minus of +29 this past season. The 19-year-old represented the Czech Republic at the 2012 World Junior Hockey Championships in their fifth place finish in January. Uher was selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the fifth round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton leads their first round playoff series 2-0 over the Hershey Bears.

FORMER CHIEFS IN NHL AND AHL PLAYOFFS

Three former Spokane Chiefs continue their run for the NHL's Stanley Cup in first round playoff series. Ottawa rookie Jared Cowen (left) (2007-11) played 82 regular season games for the Senators and has appeared in all five of their first round games versus the New York Rangers. Ottawa leads the series 3-2 with game six being played Monday night. Cowen was a two-year captain of the Chiefs and helped them win the 2008 Memorial Cup.

Ray Whitney (1988-91), the Chiefs' all-time leading scorer and 1991 Memorial Cup Champion, and his Phoenix Coyotes have a 3-2 lead in their best-of-seven series with the Chicago Blackhawks. Game six will also be played Monday night. Whitney is in the Stanley Cup playoffs for the eighth time in his 21-year career and recently scored his 1,000th NHL point. Goaltender Jason LaBarbera (1999-2000) appeared in 19 games during the regular season for the Coyotes but has not seen any action in the playoffs. LaBarbera was selected as the Coyotes Man of the Year for dedication to the community.

Dominik Uher's appointment to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins makes it five former Spokane Chiefs that are currently pursuing the American Hockey League's Calder Cup.

Center Tyler Johson (2007-11) and goaltender Dustin Tokarski (2006-09), both members of the Chiefs' 2008 Memorial Cup Championship club, have the Norfolk Admirals in a 1-1 first round tie with the Manchester Monarchs. Their game two loss broke a 29 game winning streak, including 28 in the regular season, dating back to February 5th. The Admirals had a league best 55 wins.

Ondrej Roman's (2006-09) San Antonio Rampage is up 2-0 on the Chicago Wolves. Roman has not appeared in a playoff game after splitting 47 regular season games between Texas and San Antonio of the AHL and Idaho and Cinicinnati of the ECHL. Sean Zimmerman (2003-07) and the Syracuse Crunch are tied 1-1 with the St. John's Ice Caps.
