Frederick, MD - Frederick Keys' outfielder Ronnie Welty has been named Carolina League Player of the Week following his huge offensive production for the week of April 16-22nd. In the four games played for the week, Welty went 11-for-18 with four doubles, a triple, homerun and nine RBI. His slash line during those games sits at .611 / .632 / 1.111.

In 13 games this season, Welty is hitting .415 / .446 / .830. His 13 extra-base hits lead the Carolina League and is tied for lead league in hits, doubles, triples, and total bases. His .415 batting average and .830 slugging percentage are second-best in the league.

This is Welty's second stint at Frederick. In 2010, Welty was named a Carolina League all-star and post-season all-star after accumulating a .282 / .349 / .464 slash line.

Welty, a native of Seattle, Washington, was drafted in the 20th round by the Baltimore Orioles of the 2008 MLB June Amateur Draft.
