Dunedin Blue Jays News Release

In a press release issued by the Florida State League on Monday, it was announced that Sean Nolin earned pitcher of the period honors for the first 11 days of the Florida State League season.

During the 11 day period, the left-hander from Seaford, NY started two games and won both in impressive fashion. In 11.2 innings of work, Nolin allowed just seven hits, no runs, two walks, and amassed 13 strikeouts.

In his first start of the season, Nolin allowed four hits and two walks in defeating the Clearwater Threshers 5-0 on April 6 in Clearwater.

He followed that up with a dominating performance in Viera on April 12, where he held the Brevard County Manatees scoreless in 5.2 innings. Nolin set a new career high with 11 strikeouts in that outing, topping his own personal best of 10 strikeouts which he collected in his final start of the 2011 season for the Lansing Lugnuts.

He made 25 appearances (21 starts) for Lansing in 2011, and finished the season 4-4 with a 3.49 ERA and one save. In his career, the southpaw is 6-6 with a 3.50 ERA in 141.1 innings. He was drafted by the Blue Jays in the 6th round in 2010.

He will make his first home start of the 2012 season tonight as the Blue Jays look to complete a three game sweep of the Daytona Cubs at 6:30pm. The game can be heard live on dunedinbluejays.com.
