April 17, 2012 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL) Saginaw Spirit
Saginaw Spirit forward Brandon Saad spent his preseason in the NHL with the Chicago Blackhawks, and now he will be spending the postseason there, too.The Blackhawks have announced that Saad is one of six players the team has recalled to join their playoff run. All five others are from the team's AHL affiliate.
The Blackhawks are currently tied 1-1 in their first-round series against the Phoenix Coyotes. Game 3 of the series is Tuesday night at home.
Saad, a 2011 second-round pick of the Blackhawks, made the team out of training camp and played two regular-season games. After returning to the OHL, he recorded 76 points in 44 regular-season games for a league-high 1.73 points per game.
Saad is eligible to play in the AHL next year. He is the third player to join a professional team since the Spirit were eliminated from the OHL playoffs on Saturday: Josh Shalla joined the AHL's Milwaukee Admirals, and Brad Walch joined the CHL's Missouri Mavericks.
