PENSACOLA, Fla. - After trailing 7-1 in the 8th, the Biscuits (1-3) battled back and put the tying run on base in the ninth before falling to the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (3-1) by a final of 7-5 Sunday at Maritime Park.

A four-run seventh proved to be too much for the Biscuits to overcome in a game they never led. A Joel Guzman two-run homer in the third got the scoring started before the teams traded runs in the fourth. The four runs in the seventh were charged to Scott Shuman, with three of them scoring on a two-out double from Cody Puckett that left fielder Kyeong Kang lost in the sun.

Omar Luna's two-run single in the eighth cut it to 7-4, but Isaias Velasquez took strike three with the bases loaded to finish the inning. The Biscuits then scored one in the ninth on a Tyler Bortnick double and had runners at the corners with one out before Donnie Joseph (2) struck out Henry Wrigley and got Brad Coon to ground to first to finish the game.

Tim Gustafson (1-0) got the win in relief for the Wahoos, going 3.2 and allowing two unearned runs. Biscuits starter Joe Cruz (0-1) suffered the loss, lasting only three innings.

Luna had three hits in his first start of the season to pace the offense.

RHP Jake Thompson and the Biscuits will face off against Wahoos' RHP J.C. Sulbaran Monday at 7:05 to wrap up the five-game set.
