
Los Angeles Slows Down Energy 95-79

DES MOINES, IA. - The 2011 NBA D-League Champion Iowa Energy were outscored 22-13 in the 4th quarter as they fell to the Los Angeles D-Fenders 95-79 Saturday night.
The Energy played well early, taking a 15-8 lead midway through the 1st quarter on a pair of Mike Efevberha free throws. The visiting D-Fenders battled back the remainder of the quarter, and a 13-4 run put the visitors up 21-19 at the end of the 1st quarter.
Los Angeles extended the lead to 45-39 at halftime as Jamario Moon led the D-Fenders with nine points before the break.
Iowa opened up the 2nd half with on a 13-7 run to tie the game at 52-52 on a Efevberha layup with 7:19 left in the 3rd quarter. The D-Fenders, who enter the playoffs as the number one overall seed, rattled off a 19-9 run to take a commanding 71-61 lead late in the quarter. The Energy narrowed the lead to nine on a pair of Moses Ehambe three-pointers in the 4th quarter, but could get no closer as the D-Fenders cruised to their 38th win of the season.
Efevberha led Iowa with 20 points while Ehambe added 19. Point guard Brandon Ewing recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Mardy Collins led Los Angeles with 23 points while Elijah Milsap added 13 points and a game high 16 rebounds.
The D-Fenders shot 51.3% from the field while holding the Energy to 37.3% on the night.
The Energy will host game one of their first round series on Wednesday, April 11th at 7pm. Tickets for that game will go on sale Sunday morning at www.IowaNBA.com. The Energy will learn their opponent Sunday as well as part of the NBA D-League's unique playoff selection process. Los Angeles will pick their opponent from teams seeded five through eight. Iowa enters the playoffs as the eighth seed.
