Storm Chasers Beat the Isotopes, 8-4, on Opening Night

PAPILLION, Neb. - A sold-out crowd of 7,804 screaming fans saw the Omaha Storm Chasers defeat the Albuquerque Isotopes, 8-4, on Opening Night. Third baseman Kevin Kouzmanoff led the charge and went 2-for-4 at the plate with two doubles and three runs batted in. Right-hander Jeremy Jeffress (1-0) went 2.0 innings and allowed a single run to pick up the win in relief.

Omaha found themselves trailing 3-0 in the bottom of the fourth. The Storm Chasers cut into the lead with an RBI groundout by Kouzmanoff scored second baseman Johnny Giavotella. The next batter, David Lough, laced a single to bring Clint Robinson home and bring the Storm Chasers within one at 3-2.

The Chasers knotted the game at 3-3 with back-to-back doubles by Clint Robinson and Kouzmanoff. Omaha broke the game open, electrified the fans and took a 7-3 lead with a four-run seven inning that was started with yet another RBI double by Kouzmanoff. A Max Ramirez single scored two while Tony Abreu singled up the middle to bring home Lough.

The Isotopes blasted a solo shot in the top of the eighth but the Storm Chasers answered right back with a RBI single by Giavotella to widen their lead to 8-4.

With two men on and two out in the top of the ninth, Louis Coleman came out of the pen and struck out Alex Castellanos to earn the save and preserve the 8-4 victory.

The Storm Chasers and Isotopes will battle again on Friday, April 6 with a first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Friday's game will feature a magnet schedule giveaway and American Family Insurance Friday Fireworks!
