Make It Six; Bees Win Again 5-4 Over Dayton

Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees News Release
TROTWOOD, Ohio- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees (30-26-7) took another step towards the Berry Conference playoffs with a 5-4 victory over the Dayton Gems (20-27-13) on Friday night in their first-ever trip to Hara Arena. Aaron Lee scored twice and Brandon Campos and Scott Balan each added a goal and an assist.
The start of the game was ominous for the Killer Bees as Dayton raced out to a 2-0 lead just minutes into the period. Dayton started the scoring 54 seconds in and then again 3:34 of the first.
The Bees would start to rally at 5:36 of the period as former Killer Bees and current Dayton Gems goalie Dan Dunn misplayed a shot by Brandon Campos and watched it dribble to the back of the net. Nicolas Rioux and Dan Gendur earned the assists.
Tomas Klempa tied the game at two at 10:58 of the first as he escaped his defenders and Dan Gendur ripped the puck at the through the slot where Klempa one touched it home. Brandon Campos also earned an assist.
Aaron Lee would find the back of the net twice in the second period to help give the Bees the lead. As Lee sat in the penalty box with three seconds left on his infraction the Killer Bees won a face-off in their own zone to Scott Balan. Balan slung the puck up net where Lee picked it up and sent it to the back of the net.
After Dayton tied the game at 14:22 of the second Aaron Lee gave the lead back to the Bees at 18:21 with a power-play goal. Dan Gendur and Jason Dixon earned the assists.
The Bees would add another tally in the third as Scott Balan picked up a rebound off a Kirill Startsev shot and buried it low glove side for his fourth goal of the season. Along with his assist, Balan now has 20 points this season.
The Bees now travel to Quad City to face the Mallards at 7:05 tomorrow night. Fans can follow the game on 956sports.com and CHL-TV.
