Owen Sound Attack News Release

The Canadian Cancer Society and the Owen Sound Attack teamed up to host "Pink in the Rink" on February 11th to raise $35,787 for life saving breast cancer research and programs and services with the society.

As quoted by the Sun Times, "It was a good night overall for the Attack whose first Pink the Rink night was a sellout, with men and women in pink scattered throughout the arena. Owen Sound sported pink jerseys and socks for the night."

It is estimated that 23,600 new cases of breast cancer in women will be diagnosed in Canada in 2012. Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women. The Society is hoping this event will urge women to be tested and to follow proper screening guidelines as well as to fundraise for dollars that are much needed to fund research and support local patients who use the services and programs of the Society.

A special thank you to the committee of volunteers who worked hard to ensure the event ran smooth. Thank you to the Quote Club, Doug Cameron's Owen Sound Subaru and our sponsors Rogers TV, 92.3 The Dock, Have1.com, BDO, Centennial Windows, Tamara Govier-Investors Group, Boston Pizza, DC Taylor, Pace Law Firm, Computer Service Centre, Mister Transmission, Awesome Blossoms and Springmount Tim-br Mart.
