SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Chris Wondolowski started the new season right where he left off in 2011, striking in the 15th minute to give the San Jose Earthquakes a 1-0 win against the New England Revolution Saturday night at Buck Shaw Stadium.

Dating back to Sept. 24, 2011, Wondolowski has scored in six consecutive games. The win was San Jose's first for a home opener since returning to MLS in 2008. Wondolowski's goal also snapped a four-year home opener scoring drought for the Earthquakes.

Shea Salinas notched the assist on Wondolowski's strike, stepping in front of a Shalrie Joseph pass near midfield before slipping a pass behind the Revolution defense to the top of the box. Wondolowski gathered and fired his shot to the right of goalkeeper Matt Reis for his first goal of 2012.

The Earthquakes return to action on Saturday, March 17 against the Houston Dynamo at AT&T Park in San Francisco. The match is part of a doubleheader with Olympic hopefuls Mexico and Senegal. Kickoff for San Jose-Houston will be 2:00 p.m. PT and the game will air live Comcast SportsNet California, 1590 KLIV and 1370 KZSF, followed by Mexico and Senegal at 4:30 p.m. PT.
