Bakersfield Jam News Release
BAKERSFIELD - Juan Pattilo made a huge steal and two clutch free-throws late in the game to seal a 111-107 victory for the Bakersfield Jam (21-17) over the Dakota Wizards (20-17).
After leading by two points at halftime (54-52), Bakersfield came out strong in the third outscoring Dakota 33-18 and extending their lead to 19 points. However, the Wizards fought back in the fourth as they knocked down shots and ultimately erased a double digit deficit. With 1:07 left in the game, Bakersfield led 107-101 but a three-pointer by Shy Ely saw the lead cut down to just three points with 44 seconds left. On the next possession, Jeremy Wise missed a jump shot and Dakota grabbed the rebound and right away called a timeout. Out of the timeout, Dakota tried to inbound the ball but Pattillo stole the ball and was immediately fouled with 11.2 seconds remaining in the game. Pattillo sealed the win for the Jam by making his two free-throws and finished the night with 22 points, five rebounds, and season-high five steals.
Brian Butch recorded a double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds in just 18 minutes of action in his return to Bakersfield. Renaldo Major finished the game with 18 points while Adam Koch had a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds. Osiris Eldridge contributed 16 points off the bench for the Jam.
Edwin Ubiles led Dakota in scoring with 22 and had team-high six assists. Five other players scored in double figures for the Wizards with Shy Ely leading the bench with 15.
The Jam returns to action tomorrow when they face the Idaho Stampede at the Jam Events Center at 7:00 p.m. PT.
