FrogVille, Wi-The fast-expanding 2012 Green Bay Bullfrogs roster grows to eleven today with the signing of Brooks Orton and Taylor Black. Both players are freshmen at Texas State University .

While Texas St. may not be as well known as some of the traditional Texas powerhouses, the Bobcats continue to become a prominent name in Division I college baseball. Currently ranked #21 nationally by Baseball America and #2 in the College Baseball Daily Mid-Major Poll, Texas St. is 9-3 and has already beaten national powers Wichita St., TCU, and the #4-ranked Rice Owls this season. Led by its dominant pitching staff, the Bobcats currently carry an unbelievable 1.37 team ERA and recently wrapped up an incredible streak of 57 2/3 consecutive scoreless innings pitched. The team has also appeared in 2 of the last 3 NCAA Division I baseball tournaments.

"We are extremely excited to start a relationship with the Texas State program," Bullfrogs Field Manager Jordan Bischel said. "This coaching staff continues to lead the program to national prominence and appears to be on track for possibly the greatest season in school history. Both Brooks and Taylor come highly recommended and Texas State has a very strong track record of their players having successful summers."

Brooks Orton is already having an impact as a true freshman. A shortstop in high school, Orton has played left field in nine of the team's first twelve games and is currently 2nd on the team in hitting (.333). A native of Cedar City, Utah, Orton led the entire state of Utah in batting average (.574) and doubles (17) as a senior. He was twice named first-team all state.

Taylor Black is currently a red-shirt freshman for the Bobcats. While the right-handed hurler has yet to appear in a game this spring for one of the nation's top pitching staffs, Black showed last summer that he has the ability to be a top performer. As a member of the Westhampton Aviators of the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League, the 6'2" pitcher went 4-2 with a 1.70 ERA in 42 1/3 innings pitched on his way to being named to the league's all-star team. The Allen, Texas, native was also named the 13th best prospect in the league by Perfect Game following the season.

The Bullfrogs open up their 6th season in FrogVille, Wisconsin on May 30 at 6:35 against the expansion Lakeshore Chinooks. Please call 920-497-7225 or log on to www.greenbaybullfrogs.comfor more information.
