
Roy, Shine Lead Stars Past Storm, 6-3

LINCOLN, Neb. - The Tri-City Storm could not slow down LW Kevin Roy and RW Dominik Shine in Tuesday night's 6-3 loss to the Lincoln Stars at the Ice Box. Roy scored his third hat trick of the season, while Shine would tally two goals and three assists in the win.
The USHL leading scorer - Roy now has 70 points (38 goals, 32 assists) in 42 games.
Lincoln (25-14-3, 53 pts - 2nd in Western Conference) would score first on the power play at the 11:37 mark in the first period, as Roy scored his first of three goals from Shine and C Luke Johnson. Johnson ended the game with three assists for the Stars.
The Stars would increase their lead on C Will Suter's seventh goal of the season and fourth goal in the last three games at the 4:55 mark in the second period.
Tri-City (18-26-0, 36 pts - 7th in Western Conference) would breakthrough on the power play at the 12:15 mark, as C Brad Schierhorn scored his sixth goal of the season from LW Heikki Liedes and RW Andrew Dorantes. The goal by Schierhorn snapped a season-high 17-game goalless drought.
However, the Stars would score more than a minute later on another power play with Shine scoring his first of two goals from Johnson and D Ralfs Freibergs.
Following Shine's second goal of the game that pushed Lincoln's lead to 4-1 in the third period, the Storm would respond with two goals less than three minutes apart. Liedes would scored to end his 11-game goalless drought at the 5:51 mark, while C Nick Lappin ended his six-game goalless drought on the power play at the 8:40 mark.
Nonetheless, the Stars would get two more goals from Roy in the final six minutes to cap off the scoring. Roy scored his hat trick goal into the empty-net with 2:08 left in the game.
G Adam Wilcox (16-13-0) made 28 saves on 33 shots in the loss for the Storm, while G Charles Williams (11-3-2) made 24 saves on 27 shots receiving the win for the Stars.
Tri-City finished the game 2-for-4 on the power play, while allowing two power-play goals on only two times short-handed.
The Storm are back home this weekend playing Sioux Falls (Friday) and Lincoln (Saturday), as ESPN Superstation 1460/1550 AM will air both games with the Viaero Wireless Pre-Game Shows starting at 6:45 p.m. each night.
Notes: The Storm are 2-4-0 against Lincoln in the regular-season series. The Storm are 7-for-21 on the power play in the past four games. Storm C Brian Ward and Stars C Brent Tate fought with 8:19 left in the game that eventually ejected Tate from the game. The Stars had 37 penalty minutes to the Storm's 13 minutes of penalties. It was the eighth time this season that the Storm scored two power play goals in a game
