Worcester Sharks to Host Online Jersey Auction to Benefit the Cup Crusaders

WORCESTER - Worcester Sharks President Michael A. Mudd announced that the Worcester Sharks will auction off the remaining game worn and issued PINK in the RINK jerseys during an online auction to benefit the Cup Crusaders on www.SharksAHL.com beginning on Sunday, February 19 at 8p.m. (EST).

The Sharks sported the game worn and issued jerseys during the Sharks 5-2 victory over the Portland Pirates on February 12, 2012 in the first ever PINK in the RINK event at the DCU Center.

Proceeds of the online jersey auction will benefit the Cup Crusaders.

The online jersey to benefit the Cup Crusaders, which begins on Sunday, February 19 at 8p.m. (EST) and concludes on Sunday, February 26 at 8p.m. (EST), will consist of the following jerseys;

#35 Harri Sateri

Game worn pink jersey from Worcester Sharks rookie goaltender Harri Sateri. Recorded the win in the Pink in the Rink game with 32 saves against Portland. Native of Toijala, Finland, Sateri was drafted by the San Jose Sharks in the 4th round in 2008 (106th overall). Spent the last three seasons in Tappara in the Finnish League. Has eleven wins with Worcester this season.

#17 Tommy Wingels

Game issued pink jersey from Worcester Sharks forward Tommy Wingels. AHL player of the week ending Dec 18. Leads Worcester with 13 goals in 29 games. Currently on recall with the San Jose Sharks. Former captain of Miami Ohio University and drafted by San Jose in the 6th round in 2008 (177th overall). Worcester Sharks rookie of the year in 2010-11.

#7 John McCarthy

Game issued pink jersey from Worcester Sharks alternate captain John McCarthy. Led Worcester with 28 points in 38 games (12-16-28) at the time of his recall to San Jose. Has played in 50 games with the San Jose Sharks over the last two seasons (2-2-4). Native of Andover, MA and former captain of the BU National Championship team in 2009.

#27 Justin Braun

Game issued pink jersey from Worcester Sharks defenseman Justin Braun. Currently on recall with the San Jose Sharks. A product of UMass-Amherst. Represented Worcester at the 2011 AHL All-Star Classic. Drafted by San Jose in the 7th round in 2007 (201st overall).

#21 Benn Ferriero

Game issued pink jersey from Worcester Sharks forward Benn Ferriero. Currently on recall with the San Jose Sharks. Won the National Championship with BC in 2008. Had 20 points (9-11-20) in 20 games with Worcester before his most recent NHL recall.

#22 Andrew Desjardins

Game issued pink jersey for former Worcester Sharks center Andrew Desjardins. Currently playing with the San Jose Sharks. All-Time Worcester Sharks leader in plus minus with a +47. Original member of the Worcester Sharks Crazed Rats Line. Worcester Sharks MVP in 2010-11.

#44 Andrew Murray

Game worn pink jersey from Worcester Sharks forward Andrew Murray. Recorded his first AHL goal of the season in the Pink in the Rink game against Portland. Has 40 points (24-16-40) in 220 career NHL games with Columbus and San Jose. Three time captain of the Bemidji State Beavers where he finished with 115 points in his four seasons there.

MISSION of the Cup Crusaders;

The Cup Crusaders, are a local team that raises money for the Susan G. Komen 3-day for the Cure(r). The 3-Day is a 60-mile walk for women and men who want to make a personal difference in the fight to end breast cancer. The Cup Crusaders started in 2005 with the ultimate goal of being instrumental in helping to find a cure. To date, the team has raised over $775,000 and hope to break the $1Million mark in 2012 with the help of the Worcester Sharks and their fans!
