Atlanta Dream News Release
ATLANTA, February 13, 2012 - The Atlanta Dream announced today the team has signed forward Aneika Henry to a training camp contract.
Henry, a 6-3 forward, was invited to training camp by the Seattle Storm in 2011. She is currently playing for Lotos Gdynia in Poland, averaging 13.6 points and 9.1 rebounds per game. She ranks fifth in EuroLeague in rebounding and eighth in double-doubles.
Henry is attempting to become the third Jamaican player in WNBA history. She had a solid career at the University of Florida as a junior college transfer from Seminole Community College. In just two years at Florida, Henry blocked 110 shots, which ranks sixth all-time in school history, and shot 53.7% from the field.
The Atlanta Dream tips off its fifth season this summer at Philips Arena as part of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA), the world's longest-running women's professional sports league. The Dream, the defending two-time, back-to-back Eastern Conference Champion, opens its home schedule on May 25 against the New York Liberty. Season and group tickets are on sale now and individual tickets will be available for purchase in the spring. For more information, visit www.AtlantaDream.net or call (877) 977-7729.
