Walleye Win in Cincinnati 2-1

Cincinnati, OH- Goaltender Alec Richards allowed just one goal on 41 shots as the alleye win 2-1 in Cincinnati tonight. Toledo is 19-23-2-2 on the season and 9-11-2-0 away from home.

Cincinnati outshot the Toledo Walleye 10-9 in a very even and scoreless first period of play.

"These guys (Cincinnati) are so good in their building you have to play a sound game for a full sixty minutes," said Head Coach Nick Vitucci. "Alec Richards was amazing for us tonight and I thought our guys did a great job defensively in front of him."

Toledo would jump on the scoreboard first at 8:39 of the second when Todd Griffith would score his 8th goal of the season. David Gilbert collected the lone assist on the goal that put the Walleye in front.

Cincinnati would tie the game at 2:08 of the third when Dan Eaves beat Richards. Harrison Reed would get the game-winning goal at 8:47 when he beat Brad Fogal with a one-timer. Forwards Andrej Nestrasil and Paul Zanette collected the assists on Reed's 11th goal of the season.

Walleye Notes: Walleye goaltender Alec Richards finished with 40 saves and is 1-0-0-0 on the season. Toledo stopped all five of Cincinnati's power play chances. Toledo will play in Wheeling on Friday night. The Toledo Walleye will return home on Saturday, February 11 to play the Cincinnati Cyclones at 7 p.m. That night is "American Cancer Society Night" in which all fans are encouraged to wear purple!
