
Tickets on Sale Tuesday for 'Baseball at the Beach'

MYRTLE BEACH, SC - Six top Division-I baseball programs are set to converge on Myrtle Beach February 24th - 26th for the 13th annual Caravelle Resort's 'Baseball at The Beach.' Each team will play at least three games over the weekend at either Coastal Carolina's Watson Stadium or at BB&T Coastal Field.
The 35th ranked Coastal Carolina Chanticleers host the ACC's North Carolina State Wolfpack and Virginia Tech Hokies, the Big10's Iowa Hawkeyes, BIG EAST's West Virginia Mountaineers and Colonial Athletic Association's George Mason Patriots. West Virginia and Virginia Tech begin the action Friday, February 24th at noon at BB&T Coastal Field.
Tickets for 'Baseball at The Beach' go on sale at 10am on Tuesday, February 7th, at the Pelicans box office or by calling (843) 918-6000. Single day tickets are $10 and three-day tournament passes are available for $25.

'Baseball at The Beach' is just a great way to kick off what we know will be another exciting season of baseball at the home of the Pelicans."
Coastal Carolina comes in as the highest ranked of the bunch, sitting 35th nationally in the preseason National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) poll. In his 17th year as head coach, Gary Gilmore brings in a team that's made it to five consecutive NCAA Regionals.
George Mason opens its season in South Carolina for the second consecutive year. The Patriots began play in Spartanburg last season in a USC-Upstate tournament. With a strong baseball history, George Mason has produced the likes of Kansas City Royals General Manager Dayton Moore.
Iowa touts one of the better pitching staffs in the Big10, returning three star hurlers. Jared Hippen is an all-conference performer who's previously played summerball in the highly prestigious Cape Cod Baseball League. Matt Dermody also returns with two seasons under his belt on the Cape, while Patrick Lala sits as a 2010 29th round draft pick of the Philadelphia Phillies.
-More- North Carolina State has also garnered preseason recognition off its appearance in the Columbia, SC Regional last year. The Wolfpack is led by Preseason All-American and Stopper of the Year candidate, relief pitcher Chris Overman.
Virginia Tech is back at 'Baseball at The Beach' for the second consecutive year, going 2-1 a season ago. The Hokies come off a 30-win season and return Preseason All-American, Andrew Rash. The junior belted 18 homeruns last year and was drafted in the 36th round by the San Diego Padres.
West Virginia won 28 games a year ago under head coach Greg Van Zant. The Mountaineers begin their season in the Tampa area, playing in the BIG EAST/Big10 Challenge before coming to Myrtle Beach.
